Taking a Break From Reviews

It has dawned on me over the last week or so that I have never taken time away from annafromuni since my first post in May 2023. While I can commend myself for sticking with it and continuing to read, review, and contribute to discussions about books and the literary world, I am realising that this also means I don’t have a mental break from reading books and writing reviews. It is time that I gave myself the break I need.

Reading is one of my favourite pastimes, and I find genuine enjoyment in writing out reviews and discussions for others to read. I like talking about books and their content, from the stylistic and structural elements of writing to the subjective details that can make a book one of my favourites. I have enjoyed these many years sharing my joy of books, and I am glad that others have found me and have reconnected with reading as a result. I won’t stop reading during my break, not only because I need time away from screens to rest my eyes, but because reading is a calming and pleasant hobby I want to indulge in. What I will be doing is stripping my posts back to the discussions for the time being.

It may be a fortnight, it may be a month, but there will be a decent amount of time where I will remove review posts from my to-do list for the sake of a mental break and prioritising my PhD workload. You will see my reviews back by April at the latest. Hope you are excited for a couple more discussions over the next month.

All the best and happy reading!
