annafromuni has been going strong in 2025, with many posts, reviews, and discussions made, and many readers reached globally. I honestly get so shocked and surprised when I see the stats for my blog, so I want to thank each and every one of you for reading the posts I make. Today’s discussion is a reflection on annafromuni from a writer’s perspective: what works well for me this year? What didn’t pan out as expected? What surprised me? What am I glad I did, and what will I be looking to implement in my 2026 plan?
Let’s start with the easy questions. I find it very easy to have a schedule with posting, but specifically one where weekends are discussion and series reviews, so that there is a little more understanding on my part as to what content is published and when I need to read books. I find this split works well, so if there is anyone out there thinking of starting their own book blog, I highly recommend having some sort of content structure in place before getting too far ahead of yourself.
One thing I will say, though, is that I have been falling behind with updating my pages. I have a masterlist of my reviews and another of my discussions that I want to get sorted, but time dedicated to these endeavours slipped away in the second half of 2025. Even posting to Pinterest is a chore at times, but I do know that I get traffic coming through from there, so it is something I should be getting on top of. I think I just need a week to get everything updated admin-wise, and I’ll be sorted. On that note, I have a Pinterest and Tumblr, so if you want to stay updated on annafomuni posts on other platforms, you can follow me there – check out the links on my homepage to get to the right places!
As I mentioned in my reading reflection post, I feel that while my tri-annual month of daily posts works well when I have the content written up and ready to go, things get a little chaotic later in the year when I get ahead of myself and try to add more fun plans and content ideas into the mix. I know that my average reading will generally allow for these three months of daily posts to come along naturally without pressure on me to read, but from a writing standpoint, it was getting quite stressful trying to keep on top of the content I needed to post each day when I had nothing prepared. Several days in September and October had me scrambling to write up reviews for books I hadn’t finished, and I wouldn’t recommend that to anyone. Going into 2026, I will be pulling back on those additional content urges with the hindsight of my PhD workload taking precedence in my schedule.
Another thing I will be doing for annafromuni in 2026 will be updating my homepage. I have had some reading preference changes since changing the photos last, not to mention I have 500 posts now (wow, I can’t believe that!), so I need to make things easier for people to navigate and find what may interest them. So, speaking of those pages from earlier, annafromuni will look a little different in 2026 with the homepage getting a fresh coat of paint, my pages getting updated and direct links on my homepage, and a few other things here and there that you will have to check out for yourself once they’re up. As I mentioned in last week’s post, I will be changing up the content on annafromuni in the new year to incorporate my study content and university reflections. With this content expansion, there will be a few more things on this blog, so I look forward to sharing them with you when they’re up.
Wishing you all a wonderful holiday break, a safe and happy end to your year, and a new year that is abundant, giving, and adventurous. Looking forward to seeing you all again and following along with me on this journey!
